Buying a Painting

Shipping & Returns

Every price on this site includes shipping. The figure you see is what you pay for the painting and its delivery.

How a painting reaches you

  1. Ask about the work. Use the button on the painting’s page — I reply within a day or two and confirm it is available.
  2. Payment by PayPal or bank transfer, whichever suits you.
  3. Dispatch within 10 working days of payment. Original artworks leaving Georgia need an export permit, and framed works need time in the framer’s workshop.
  4. Delivery usually takes 2–3 weeks. You receive a tracking number, and I follow the parcel myself until it is with you.

Packaging

Every painting is packed securely by hand. Works up to 1 m on the longest side travel on their stretcher; larger works are shipped rolled, by agreement.

Each painting comes with a signed certificate of authenticity.

Customs and import taxes

Shipping is included, but import VAT and customs fees in your country are not — they are set by your customs service and paid on delivery. For the UK, import VAT on original works of art is 5%. If you’re unsure what applies to you, ask before buying and I’ll help you check.

See it on your wall before you buy

Not sure how a painting will look in your room? Send me a photo of your wall, and I’ll show you the painting in it, to scale. Most questions about size and colour are settled this way — before you pay.

Returns

Because every painting can be seen in your own space before purchase, I don’t accept returns for a change of mind.

If a painting arrives damaged:

  • write to me within 7 days of delivery;
  • send photos of the parcel and of the painting;
  • keep the packaging.

If the damage was caused by the packaging, it’s my responsibility: I restore the painting and cover shipping both ways. If it happened for reasons outside the packaging — for example, during a customs inspection — we’ll find the best solution together.

Care for life

Small things — a fresh coat of varnish, a scuff to touch up, a canvas that has started to sag and needs its corners tightened — I can take care of myself, however many years from now. Shipping both ways is at your expense, so for small jobs a local framer or restorer is often the simpler option.

Serious damage — fire, smoke, water, a failing ground layer — needs a professional conservator. Write to me anyway: I’ll tell you what I know about the painting and its materials.
